Privacy as Armor: Why High-Energy Fitness Needs Ghost Mode
·4 min read

FOCO is for the regulars. For the squads. For anyone who thrives in the energy of a packed room. Sweating next to a stranger builds genuine camaraderie, and catching the beat together remains the most authentic way to drop your guard and connect.
But the fitness industry built a maze. Booking a class demands navigating fragmented apps and risking unwanted visibility on mandatory social feeds. Software pushes users into extremes: hyper-competitive arenas full of public shaming, or clinical, quiet apps stripped of all energy.
FOCO drops the barriers. We unify every studio schedule into a single live floor and provide absolute Ghost Mode privacy. You get the undeniable momentum of a packed room with the armor to step into the heat without performing.
The Floor and The Lineup
Fitness is live performance. FOCO unifies classes chronologically across the city into a single live space called The Floor. Users scan The Lineup to see what is happening right now, filtering by music, instructor energy, and class vibes.
When you lock a class on The Lineup, you join a real crowd. You feel the momentum of the room building hours before the first track drops. Joining the movement never requires giving up control over your identity.
Ghost Mode: Your Digital Armor
Entering a crowded studio is an act of vulnerability. For survivors of abuse, people recovering personal autonomy, or anyone who simply wants to sweat without being watched, forced social visibility is unacceptable.
Ghost Mode is not just a privacy toggle. It is armor. It lets you step directly into a pulsing, high-energy room while remaining entirely untouched and unperceived.
Safety lives in the software boundaries. Energy lives in the noise of the room.
Anonymous Volume
We resolve the tension between social proof and individual privacy through Anonymous Volume. Private users are never listed by name on class rosters. Instead, their presence is counted mathematically in aggregates.
When a roster shows "Sarah, Tyler, + 3 others", those three additional attendees benefit from the social momentum of a full room while remaining completely private. Social features on FOCO are strictly additive. You choose when to be seen, and until then, your armor stays on.
